Swimming Lessons

For me I mean (not baby)! That's right your Mommy's learning how to swim. So when an opportunity to swim with dolphins comes up, I'm there; if we visit a cenote in the Yucatan, I'm swimming; if we go snorkeling in Hawaii, I'm floating on my stomach! You know, having a baby gave me this new found courage to learn to swim. And with Garvey Pool across the street there really is no excuse. So far I've learned to breathe under the water, put my face in, flutter kick, float on stomach and back, frog kick, and swimming on one side - wow! I still get freaked out though and I don't like opening my eyes under water. But, with lots of practice I'll get good enough to help Maddie learn when she's old enough.

Prickly Heat Rash

Oh the Dog Days of Summer! Today we noticed little scratches all along the back of your neck, my love. Your tiny nails can do more damage than you'd think. By suppertime the scratches had become a full scale prickly heat rash all around your neck. The heat and humidity have combined along with your sweat and all the random dirt that gets onto your neck into a rash. So I gave you a nice long cool bath and we sat outside on my favorite rocking chair enjoying the breeze for an hour. Hopefully that along with some hydrocortisone cream will clear it all up. If you remember, last year at this time I broke into a huge heat rash all along my chest and torso right at the same time my milk came in so you could say this is some type of annual thing.
